The great Himalayan Outdoors
A lovely day excursion from Shimla descends into the valley of Shimla Water Catchment Sanctuary, the first gravitational water supply scheme to Shimla town. Soon you find yourself into a beautiful Himalayan Countryside shaded with thick coniferous cover.
The drive further continues through tiny hamlets clinging to the steep slopes with terrace farms growing varieties of food grains, vegetables and spices too. The area also marks the boundary with the restricted Catchment Sanctuary. An undisturbed thickest pine cover is above us and the lower parts of the interlocked valleys are dotted with small villages.
The drive, finally culminate at a small village offering 360 degrees views of Shimla and its suburbs however, away from the hustle and bustle of Shimla.
Enjoy an outdoor picnic in one of the fields next to an old traditional Himalayan village with magnificent views.
